RP-U100

CAVIT EXTERNAL AUDIO SOUNDBOARD RECEIVER

The RP-U100 receiver works in conjunction with a computer to realize the sound potential of internet music, computer games, and other more traditional audio sources. With Ythis system, a computer user can listen to MP3 music from the Internet with full fidelity and enjoy online games as well as CD-based computer games, and even DVD movies, in surround sound via virtual Dolby Digital and Yamaha's Near-Field Cinema.

The RP-U100 unit's onboard function display and dial are synchronized to the sophisticated yet intuitive control interface installed on the PC.

EXTERNAL AUDIO SOUNDBOARD RECEIVER FOR COMPUTERS
The RP-U100 is a 2-channel receiver featuring virtual Dolby Digital decoding that connects to a Computer via USB cable. Just add speakers and your ready to enjoy.

MULTI-FORMAT DIGITAL CAPABILITY
The RP-U100 is compatible with all audio formats from the computer including MP3, WMA, DVD, Computer Games, Extended Wave Virtual Multi-Channel sound, and Direct Sound 3D, as well as providing Yamaha's DSP.

VIRTUAL SURROUND SOUND
Dolby Digital is the most sophisticated version of surround sound technology to come from Dolby Laboratories. It is found in the finest movie theaters in the world and is the multi-channel standard for such technologies as DVD-Video and DTV. It is also rapidly becoming a staple in digital satellite TV transmission to the home. When brought into the home, the system requires five full-range speakers and a subwoofer. Virtual Dolby Digital provides a credible version of this advanced sound technology for use with computers and other near-field situations using only two speakers.

Yamaha has applied the same kind of "virtual" technology to its sophisticated Sound Field Processing programs that recreates actually sampled venues–such as concert halls, cathedrals, and jazz clubs–or acoustically ideal models of movie theaters and similar venues.

In addition to virtual Dolby Digital, the RP-U100 provides six different DSP modes with user adjustable parameters for Effect, Initial Delay, and Room Size. Based on Yamaha’s sound field sampling over more than a decade, three proprietary DSP modes enhance Dolby Pro Logic and other full-surround technologies and include: Movie (to recreate the acoustics of a true movie theater), Live (which immerses the listener in a rich sea of sound), and Game (to add immediate impact and greater involvement to game play). Three additional DSP programs add performance venue realism to music: Hall (recreates a medium-sized concert hall), Jazz (based on an actually sampled jazz club in New York), and Church (which provides the spacious sonic ambiance of a gothic cathedral). All are based on Yamaha’s on-site testing of various venues–and they all require just two speakers to deliver their impressive effect.

MULTI-CHANNEL SOUND VIA USB
Rather than process audio within the computer, the RP-U100 is linked to a Computer via a USB cable that takes the audio from the computer digitally for processing within the amplifier's processor. The result is a pure and accurate audio signal.

AM/FM TUNER
The "Tuner" input button activates the RP-U100’s onboard AM/FM stereo radio section that has a total of 208 presets possible. The presets are stored on the PC’s hard drive and activated via software GUI. Stations can be grouped by category–Rock, Classical, Talk, etc.–or each group can be assigned to a family member. Each category can hold up to 8 stations, and the first five categories can be accessed from the receiver as well as from the computer.

VERSATILE RECORDING CAPABILITY
The RP-U100 provides a bridge to record any analog to digital, or Radio Station to your hard drive.

24-BIT / 48 kHz AUDIO PLAYBACK
True digital audio fidelity from sources.

FULL PC USER INTERFACE CONTROL
The RP-U100 can be easily controlled via the GUI (graphical user interface) supplied with the unit.

SOPHISTICATED DIGITAL EQUALIZER
The RP-U100 features a sophisticated 9-band equalizer that's adjustable through 12 steps.

MULTIPLE INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
Inputs include 3 computer inputs via USB, Digital (coaxial/optical), and Analog. Aux. 1 provides an analog input and a digital optical input. Aux. 2 has an analog input. In addition, the amplifier has analog and digital outputs with subwoofer output and headphone outputs.

YAMAHA DSP ENGINE
Yamaha's YSS-918 ASIC — Application Specific Integrated Circuit — provides virtual Surround and Equalizer configurations.

MULTI-PLATFORM
The RP-U100 is compatible with Win98, Win98SE, Win ME, Win2000, Mac OS 9.1 or higher.

In addition to the CAVIT unit and the remote control, the package also includes a USB cable, operational manual, setup manual, Installation CD-ROM, warranty information and registration card.
